LEARNING TO SAIL
The course is aimed at adults aged 16 or more who are approaching the world of sailing for the first time or have already attended other courses, but for the most diverse reasons want to restart from basics.
The course aims at providing each participant with the theoretical and practical basis necessaries to sail a dinghy autonomously and safely, to perform the main nautical knots, to recognize names and directions of winds and gaits, and to take care of boat and equipment. All practical activities at sea are carried out aboard of a Tridente 16′, a collective boat which can accommodate up to five adults.
The courses are either collective or individual. The lessons, lasting about 2 hours each, are held in the afternoon from Monday to Friday (14.30-sunset), while on Saturday and Sunday are available both the morning time slot (9.00-13.00) and the afternoon slot (14.30-sunset). The lesson plan will be arranged from time to time with the instructor, according to the needs of the participants and the availability of places.
All participants (regardless of age) must be able to swim and must be accompanied by a medical certificate attesting fitness for non-competitive sports. The Club will provide for individual safety devices, which for all students will be made up, compulsorily, by the lifejacket.
All participants will be registered to the Italian Sailing Federation (cost 20 euros, to be paid once at the moment of first registration, then valid for one year), and will be assisted by FIV Instructors throughout the entire course, both on land and at sea,
All the activities will take place at our Nautical Base in San Catado di Lecce, next to York Beach. Our staff is available for any question: please contact us.
Buon vento!
