GROWING UP AND EXPLORING…
The course is aimed at all children and youths who have already completed an initiation course and intending to improve their sailing skills, as well as cultivate their passion for sailing in a more conscious and complete way. Students will start to acknowledge and expand their abilities as sailors, gradually becoming more and more confident and autonomous, always in a spirit of play and fun.
Lessons will focus on increasing control over the boat and improving the execution of basic manoeuvres, appreciating the effects of body weight shifting, sail trimming, helming and deck equipment regulation on boat asset and behaviour through different wind and sea conditions.
Students will also learn to better understand crew roles on board, always in spirit of collaboration, and they will start to familiarize with marine meteorology; they will expand as well their knowledge of boat’s rigging, exploring different setup and regulations of deck equipment on the base of wind, sea and crew characteristics.
For sailing practice at sea we will use a Tridente 16′, a collective boat which can accommodate up to six children or, depending on teaching needs, Optimist and Laser Pico (single or double handed).
All participants (regardless of age) must be able to swim and must be accompanied by a medical certificate attesting fitness for non-competitive sports. The Club will provide for individual safety devices, which for all students will be made up, compulsorily, by the (lifejacket).
All students will be registered to the Italian Sailing Federation (cost 20 euros, to be paid once at the moment of first registration, then valid for one year), and will be assisted by FIV Instructors throughout the duration of the entire course, both on land and at sea.
All the activities are held at our Nautical Base in San Catado di Lecce, next to York Beach. Our staff is available for any question, please contact us.
Buon vento!
